Welcome to Mr. Di Ponio's English 9 page. There are four units of study for this course, which encompass all of the Prescribed Learning Outcomes. During your study of literature you will have the opportunity to do poster projects which will allow you to use programs like PowerPoint and Microsoft Publisher.
This course is quite rigorous and challenging, particularly Shakespeare. I would encourage you to team up with classmates for the Shakespeare unit and try to read the play in small groups. Digital copies of the play are available here, and hard copies in the RBSS Learning Centre. I also have a wide variety of notes and tools that will help you better understand the play, so please consult me when you hit roadblocks.
Also, I have film versions of A Midsummer Night's Dream, and there are several viewing areas in the school so that you may watch the film on your own schedule. Remember that you are encouraged, when possible, to work in small groups for some of the assignments, and please do not hesitate to ask for help when you run across problems.
Lastly, you will be completing an Independent Study Project throughout the course of the semester. You can find the assignment information here.
