In Communications 11 we will study grammar, punctuation, a novel, short stories, poetry, and non-fiction. One main focus for this course will be to improve and expand upon your writing skills as well as your ability to work with others.
EXPECTATIONS
In order to have a class where each student can learn and do their best work, everyone will be expected to:
-Attend every class
-Arrive on time and with appropriate materials (notebook, Text, pen or pencil)
-Work productively in class and complete assigned work
-Contribute to a respectful, tolerant and clean classroom environment
ASSESSMENT AND EVALUATION
We will be using criteria-referenced assessment for the major assignments in this class. In order to submit each of the major assignments and to write the unit tests, you must first have completed a number of “building block” assignments. Communications 11 has a final exam which will be worth 20% of your final mark and the other 80% will be broken down as stated below:
-Questions & Homework 35%
-Paragraphs 15%
-Essays & Projects 30%
ABSENCES
Chronic absenteeism will not be tolerated. It is your responsibility to find out what you have missed when you return with a note for your absence. If you miss an assignment and you have an unexcused absence, you will not be graded for that assignment.
